Don’t Let This Slide.

Yesterday, Trump threatened to annihilate an entire civilization. He backed off, because that’s what he does. (🌮) And I’m glad for that - because it means we avoided a nuclear winter. But he meant what he said, because he always means what he says. And he should be held accountable for it. Trump is a genocidal racist pedophile who should be removed from power for a thousand valid reasons.

Don’t make excuses. Don’t say ‘lol’ and move on with your day. Certainly don’t get it into your head that he was “projecting masculine strength” or some bullshit.

Again: Trump threatened to annihilate an entire civilization yesterday. And that was two days after feeling uncomfortable that Jesus Christ was getting too much mindshare on Easter Sunday and posted this gem:

It’s not funny. It’s not a goddam political meme. It’s the President of the United States threatening genocide.

Take it seriously. It’s not cringe to do so. It’s our right and obligation.

Over the last decade we have become acclimated to a lot of insanity and cruelty. Countless ‘red lines’ have been crossed. But this is a Before and After moment.

I cannot even begin to contextualize all the actions that have been taken by this administration (and the prior Trump admin) that have led to harm, death, increased wealth inequality, racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic policy, and an overall decline in the quality of life for the vast majority of people in America.

I have no illusions that my disdain for Trump’s leadership will ‘matter’ in the long run. It doesn’t even matter to people in my personal life, who disregard my political opinion as I disregard theirs. But if you continue to support this presidency after yesterday’s threat, you must understand that your moral and mental capacity will be questioned.

There’s a piece I’ve been working on that still isn’t ready for publishing about the notion of living in Steve Bannon’s “Flooded Zone,” where we are inundated by media that is owned by Trump-cucked moguls who’ve sought to control the English-speaking info ecosystem: Murdoch, Zuckerberg, Musk, The Ellisons, Bari Weiss’ CBS, etc. Those brave or foolish enough to publish online are either desperately pushing against this conservative propaganda or gleefully cheering it on. We feel the invisible weight of these algorithms and we don’t know what we can do.

But goddammit, such a brazen threat of genocide deserves to cut through the noise. We all deserve better than to live under the reign of such a vile leader.

I’m sick of all this. And I’m writing from a place of rage after learning of someone’s death who was gone too soon, who fought in their context for the common good, all while Trump still breaths free air.

Our opposition leadership in American government is not brave. But we have to be.
